In her talk, Teresa Gernon, women’s health advocate and founder of Epi-no UK, discusses preventative measures for perineal trauma. Teresa discusses the Epi-no, a tool to support pelvic floor relaxation and stretching to mimic perineal massage antenatally, and to regain strength in pelvic floor muscles postnatally. Internationally, similar tools are available as part of healthcare packages, however, no studies exist to date exploring the outcomes following the use of the Epi-no. The talk ends in a discussion of tackling normalisation of ongoing pelvic morbidities and providing choice to women and birthing people.

Improving perinatal pelvic health
