STILLBIRTH AN INTRODUCTION FOR MIDWIVES AND HCPS

In the UK, 1 in every 225 babies will be stillborn – around 3,200 stillbirths every year. It’s an experience that never leaves a parent. Two of the presentations in this curated boxset were given by speakers who have lost children to stillbirth themselves – you will hear them speak movingly on the impact it had on their lives. A stillbirth can feel like a seismic event for the people involved, so healthcare professionals have a responsibility to reduce the risk of its occurrence as much as they can and to provide support, kindness and choices to the parents of stillborn babies. ​ How the professionals respond and support the parent is critical, especially when they may share the sense of loss and shock. This boxset of presentations is for professionals to help them reflect on their practice and anticipate the challenges they will face and how to deal with them. ​ This learning module can be used towards CPD for revalidation with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the UK, and equivalent bodies in other jurisdictions.
