In this third episode of Midwifery Hour series 10, Sue Macdonald, Midwifery Expert, Mayes Midwifery was joined by Mary Newburn, Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Lead, Kings College London ARC Maternity, Jo Daguston, AIMS Volunteer, Public co-investigator, NIHR funded/ELHT Project & Zenab Barry, Political Scientist, International Development Specialist and Director, National Maternity Voices.
Each year more research is published extending our knowledge about the health benefits of relational care, midwifery continuity of carer for women, babies and their families.
While job satisfaction is increased, and work-related stress is reduced for those providing this model of care, there is also resistance to changing daily routines, established patterns of work and areas of responsibility among midwives who have no experience of ‘following the woman’.
In this session we continue to explore the wider implications of continuity of care. What do service users think and say….?
