Midwifery education has changed so much over the last ten years. Students need to be equipped with the tools and strategies to learn and develop through their initial programme and throughout their career.
New ways of learning and teaching are being implemented – from self directed learning, to guided study, through to flipped classrooms and scenario based learning. All approaches used to enhance student learning and understanding, and ‘make it real’.
Salutogenesis was the common focal point of the evening; the “salutogenic model” is a concerned with factors that support human health and well-being, rather than on factors that cause disease (pathogenesis). More specifically, the “salutogenic model” is concerned with the relationship between health, stress, and coping that is an essential tool in learning.
Hear from members of the teaching team at UCLAN about how they are meeting these challenges for their students.
